Certified Trauma Specialist
course

Interested in learning more about trauma? Need to earn a trauma-informed certification for your profession? Wondering if you or a loved one’s life has been affected by trauma? Want to become a certified trauma specialist or a certified trauma coach?

Hi. I'm Deena Christine, as an accredited teacher for the International Association of Trauma Recovery Coaching, I have added wisdom and insight from my personal trauma work with the IAOTRC core competencies and will be teaching The Certified Trauma Specialist Course. I have been a student of the IAOTRC since August of 2020 and have completed the rigorous coursework of the initial class, advanced class, supervisor class, and train the trainer class. I serve as a supervisor for the IAOTRC and the program director for group coaching.

One of the foundational principles of being able to work with one’s personal wounded parts, and to coach or lead others, is being able to step into SELF. I teach core principles and tools to enable you to recover and reconnect to your authentic self, and achieve a sense of safety.

When connected to self, we feel safe, calm, confident, creative, curious, and compassionate. Circumstances may not change, but our perspective of them will. We can become playful, patient, and persistent. We know what we’re capable of and when to ask for help. We can be present and connect to others and our world.

I have personally traveled this road of recovery and reconnection, and the principles and processes taught in this course have been life-changing. They have allowed me to recognize and respond to trauma, move out of survival and protection into safety and connection. My 30 years of leadership skills and trauma coach training will aid your learning. I believe you can use these same principles and processes to improve your life, aid others in your home, community or workplace, and—for those continuing on to become trauma recovery coaches—to help future clients.

This is a 10-week course, and class size is limited to 15 students. This course will teach you a broad range of trauma competencies. This course is also a personal and experiential journey that will help you understand how trauma (painful past learning) has affected your own life, adaptations you've made to survive and learn skills to resource and connect to self, others, and your world in healthier ways. This course is a prerequisite for Certified Trauma Recovery Coaching. A self-care plan as well as weekly homework is a requirement. Meetings are held online via Zoom for 10 weeks; all classes are recorded and archived for review. Participants may attend live classes or opt for catching the replay.
