The Inner compass
Finding Your Way to Choice
How do I participate in my own life when I don't know what's going to happen next?
We don't always get to know what happens next.
But we can learn to notice what is happening, listen to the information available to us, discern within the reality we're in, and choose our part.
Then life answers back.
And we notice again.

Notice
What is here?
Notice what happened.
Notice what's happening inside you.
Notice the story your mind is making from it.
Noticing doesn't require you to solve what you find. It gives you somewhere to begin.
Discern
What can I rely on here?
What is reliable?
What is uncertain?
Do I need more information—or am I seeking certainty?
Discernment helps us weigh what we've heard before deciding what gets authority.
.
Listen
What information is here?
Listening makes room for what we've noticed.
Feelings can be felt. Sensations can be experienced. Thoughts can be heard. Other people's perspectives can matter.
And so can ours.
Choose
What is my part?
Choice gives us a place to participate.
We can choose with the information and capacity available to us now.
I can take my part without taking responsibility for the whole.
LIFE ANSWERS BACK.
We don't get to choose everything that comes from our choices.
Some information only becomes available through participation.
AND WE NOTICE AGAIN.
I was never supposed to know everything before I chose.
